I discovered that 22A's do not like hollow points, or more specifically, any squared off bullet nose, as it will catch in the little square holes in the front of the magazine where the magazine retention button engages the magazine, and the bullet will not come up past that point. When compared to the 22A, the S&W 41 offers a significantly more comfortable grip and clearer sight view. The Model 22A had been available in a variety of configurations prior to being discontinued. The possible reason may be the massive recoil of the gun pressing the magazine release button. If you plan on shooting common, low-cost ammo, then the Ruger is an excellent pick.
