Persephone wants to show the world how terrible Hades is all because of the deals he makes with mortals. I have hopes to see more character growth for him in future novels, and was not disappointed to have him remain solid. The creature that stalks the forbidden wood. I really enjoyed the performance by the narrator. But nothing has ever intrigued him as much as the goddess offering him a bargain he can't resist. She and her friend Lexa go to the Nevernight, a cassino owned by Hades and that is popular bc he makes bargains with mortals and according to the rumors, he takes away their souls and is a ruthless god. What really irritated me about this subplot, though, was that Persephone decides to not just go to Hades right away. It starts as a classic enemies-to-lovers story. BookTok made me read this series and I'm glad I did!
I didn't like Persephone as a journalist and some of the dialog was tough to believe but all in all 3. It was available on Libby, so I gave it a chance! Firstly, at this point in the story, Adonis threatening to release pictures of Hades and Persephone shouldn't even be threatening since rumors are already rampant that Hades and Persephone are together in some regard. I believe I liked him more than Persephone as there was just more to his character than hers and I actually had a bit of fun learning more about him through the book. But things don't go as plan as she ends up meeting Hades at his own club and strucking an impossible bet with him: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. She feels like an outsider. Late at night, while everyone is sleeping, dreaming of white knights and fairytales. Trust me, when we fuck, you'll remember. All her life she has been hidden by her mother, but when she moves to New Athens, she hopes to leave a simple life disguised as a mortal journalist.
I was able to actually ignore it since I was listening to the audiobook so I cannot exactly comment on it. Hades folding her clothes for her when she woke up.
