Your fuel pump will be running almost constantly on good, clean power. You really, really do not want to have a hot electrical connection by a fuel pump. I tried to find the ground wire for the fuel pump but didn't find it. I'm beyond frustrated and any help would be appreciated. I would ground the pump to the frame/body as near the pump as possible, also with 10ga wire. You are going to need a fuel pump suitable for direct wiring to your battery. You said it was burnt so the connector may be where it has fallen apart. With the test light probe on that grn/wht pin, turn the key on.
Ignore my other reply.. Theres a few grounds. Btw, i think when it is cooler outside, it wont it is cooler, the FP wont it is warm outside, it primes up and starts could be just coincedential. My second tank swap on a 2013 Sportster and both times find the coating on the fuel pump ground wire inside the tank melted like wax off of the wire! Some people may wire a switch between the fuel pump and the battery. Pump is now running as it should. Can you probe 12V at the fuse panel and get the fuel pump to turn on -- how about 12V at the fuel pump connector itself? I sold Auto Parts for awhile Had a customer come in.
