The Last Of August Ending Explained

In the plus column, I loved the relationship between Charlotte & Jamie. But I just wasn't invested in this mystery. It's very vivid as well as detailed and descriptive. It shouldn't be a surprise that my least favorite trope is a love triangle and the one in this book just really took the story down a notch. Except for the one thing that happened that I am very upset about, I get that (although I think it was stupid that it happened but that goes back to me not understanding what was going on). Then there's the added issue of August Moriarty's presence in Charlotte's life suddenly, which Jamie is *none* too thrilled about. And how he feels about how his family behaves. I'll admit, The Last of August is a bit of a slow starter. She opens up a lot more in this books so I feel like the reader gets to know her more in this one but I also feel like there's still more to learn! The Last of August (Charlotte Holmes #2). By The End Of August

I think they're such an interesting duo, they're real different and yet two sides of the same coin. This all concludes with the death of August which wasn't really needed and it is said that it's not really needed in the novel. Teens drink alcohol at a club and auction. First they stay with his mom in England, who's really not into the whole Holmes/Watson dynamic thing, but Charlotte really hits it off with Jamie's little sister. Plain and simple, these were not justified arguments, they were based off of jealousy and an inability to communicate with each other.

I found this one to be more of a mystery and less predictable than the first book of the series. This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. And of course, I don't want to attack any of your opinions but I try to explain, why I love this series so much.

The Last Of August Ending Explained For Dummies

Following the events in A Study in Charlotte, Jamie and Charlotte find themselves in England, trying to enjoy their winter holiday together. I will say that the first book did also have petty arguments but they were never malicious in the way that this book's were. In the middle of all that was the most convoluted yet boring mystery. Okay I did laugh out loud. Sometimes she can't handle being touched. In my opinion, the entire plot collapsed under the weight of this illogical ending. Meeting Charlotte's family is probably my favorite part of this book. Shrug What can I say, the author makes this weirdness work for me.

For me, the relationship dynamic between Holmes and Watson just isn't working in this book. Spoilers for those who didn't read book #1. I liked the growing connection between Holmes and Watson and I loved them teaming up together to solve the case. The premise is that Charlotte Holmes and Jamie Watson are the latest Holmes and Watson, descended from the original Holmes and Watson. It's a fantastic premise, and I adored the first book, but there were certainly elements that I wasn't as fond of, which continue in this book, to my dismay. Something made up from what you wanted from the world and what you got instead. The original investigation concluded with most of the evidence pointing to Sal, who was found dead in the woods, apparently by suicide. Unfortunately, I did not love the sequel to A Study In Charlotte as much as book one.
