I find it a little hard to believe that while Wrath seems to demonstrate a wide range of emotions, the other three are like caricatures of villains and demons; always chuckling, smirking, grinning, cackling, plotting evilly. I've not read this series but I've heard only good things about it! I really love the imagery of the Dame Blance's powers. Lou is sarcastic, self sufficient, brave, cunning and clever and just gets shit done. Female characters who aren't afraid to be strong and feminine definitely have a special place in my heart. Sex is indeed a part of most relationships, and it would be nice if YA authors implied it. A bit of icing covered her lip. Uprooted is a dark fairytale with high stakes, interesting and complex characters who come across as real human beings. The very explicit sex scenes have me decidedly classifying this book everywhere BUT YA! The ending left me floundering – in a good way. Those of us who don't want to read about sex deserve a space, too. I did not gain anything from Reid's perspective – it wasn't different enough from Lou's and I don't think it really managed to flesh out his inner conflict well, which I'll talk about in a bit.
